Lodging

UPDATES!

Check out the interactive map on the Here You Are in Oregon tab for a listing of local hotels. But even better, plan to stay on-site with us. Just to be clear, there are a few lodges that sleep a lot of people (party!) and a few that you and your significant other can enjoy to yourselves. Families with kids get priority on the individual cabins, but there are plenty to go around. One lucky group of people (about 8) can get the lodge that has a fire ring in the middle!

Some details are included in the invitations about what to bring if you have it. (towel, etc.) For most folks, a sleeping bag is preferred and should work great. And for those that need linens for the bed, we'll be able to accommodate you as long as you let us know ahead of time. (Just drop us a line.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You will have a few options for lodging when you come to Oregon.

1. The preferred option for sure. Stay on-site at Camp Namanu at the wedding/receptions area. This is free lodging, and the only catch is that the beds are all singles. They're bunks, but the camp can sleep well over 300 people so we're pretty sure no one will need to sleep on the top bunk, unless of course you want to.

There are some cabins that sleep just a few people, and some lodges that can sleep up to 20 under one roof. All the lodges have a bathroom inside them. The cabins however share an outside bathroom, which still has showers and all the necessities you could want at a camp, but just not inside the sleeping area.

The picture to the left is of one of the larger lodges, it has about 20 beds (only a few shown here), a large communal area in the middle, a kitchen, bathroom, and of course a fireplace (all the lodges have fireplaces, and one lucky lodge has a fireplace on the back deck) So basically, if you own a sleeping bag, or if you're excited about staying late and partying at the wedding without the worry of driving anywhere, then the facilities here are the place for you.

2. The town of Sandy, OR is only about 15 minutes from the wedding site, and although you could stay at the Best Western or Holiday Inn, the nicer way to go (and for not much more) would be to rent a house/cabin near Sandy. If you search websites like VRBO or Mt. Hood Lodging for places in Brightwood, Rhododendron, Welches, or Zigzag, you'll be about 20-30 minutes from the wedding site. These are people's vacation homes so they are usually very nice and comfortable, and typically have more than bunk beds to sleep on. The downside is having to drive to-from the wedding on some backroads, but the distance is pretty short.

3. Feeling a bit adventurous? There are plenty of tent spaces available at the wedding site. You are more than welcome to pitch a tent, join in the festivities, and sleep out under the stars. If all goes according to plan, September will be beautiful and clear.

4. Although a bit farther away, both Skamania Lodge in the Columbia River Gorge and Timberline Lodge on the side of Mt. Hood are beautiful places to stay. You can search online for either of them and find prices for lodging and wow at the beauty of the lodge construction. Both will probably require an hour to get to from the airport when you land, and then 45 minutes to the wedding site the next day.
